Wales Environment Trust
The Wales Environment Trust provides the following key services:
Creating Markets for recyclate (CWMre) - specialised support for Welsh businesses to exploit the commercial opportunities of recycling.
Providing Local Government Support to best realise the value of recyclable materials (recyclate) collected and comply with waste & recycling legislation and targets.
Administering Landfill Tax Credits to fund sustainable waste management initiatives and community projects.
At the Wales Environment Trust, we create new markets for recyclates (recyclates refers to any products such as aggregates, glass, wood, plastics, metals, paper and card, biodegradable materials and end-of-life products such as cars, fridges and electrical equipment, that can be recycled).
We help businesses to develop economically and environmentally sustainable ways to maximise the use of recyclate for business benefit, while minimising waste destined for landfill sites.

Wales Waste and Resource Research Centre
The Wales Waste & Resources Research Centre addresses the need for a strong multidisciplinary approach to waste and resources related R&D, and encourages collaboration between and within research institutions. It acts as a ‘virtual centre’ to unite all the previously dispersed Higher Education and Further Education institutions in Wales with an interest in waste and resource management.
The main aim of the Centre is to further develop and coordinate the research base for the management of waste and resources. The Centre’s areas of interest include basic and applied research over the full range of alternatives for managing waste within the waste hierarchy as well as in the broader sustainability issues.
