The Waste Treatment Technology Network
(WTTN) is funded by the Welsh Assembly Government's Knowledge Exploitation Fund and managed by the Sustainable Environment Research Centre at the University of Glamorgan acting in partnership with the universities of Aberystwyth, Bangor, Cardiff, Swansea, and UWIC.
The key objective of the
WTTN is to initiate Knowledge and Technology Transfer Activities, improving the profitability of SMEs by improving resource efficiency and waste management.
WTTN seeks to achieve this by;
- Assisting SMEs to source appropriate solutions to waste related problems,
- Development of an effective network of waste technology/solution providers and industry users,
- Identification of sector specific waste problems and driving forward collective and targeted solutions,
- Development of a data base of locally available waste treatment technologies and service providers,
- Providing case studies and waste management resources to encourage best practice,
- Facilitating, where appropriate, academic input to guide the development of new and innovative waste technologies.
Membership of the
WTTN is free to SMEs within the Objective 1 area of Wales until September 2008.
The
WTTN will be running a series of waste workshops and seminars for SMEs throughout the year - see Events for details.
